Securian Promotes, Appoints Five to National Account, Retail Wholesaling Positions

ST. PAUL, Minn., Nov 14, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Securian Financial Group,
Inc. reorganized its retail products distribution system with a new hire,
promotions for three people and expanded responsibilities for another.
“These changes create a staffing structure with the resources to drive sales
and revenue growth for our life, individual annuity and retirement plan product
lines,” said Laurence Cochrane, vice president of retail product distribution,
Securian Financial Group. “We now are better positioned to create synergies
among the product lines and deliver more support to our advisors.”
Christopher Owens was promoted to national sales vice president for retail
life insurance and annuities; previously, he was national sales director of life
wholesaling. Owens has a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University in
Collegeville, MN and joined Securian in 1999 as a management services analyst.
In his new position Owens oversees the internal and external wholesalers who
market Minnesota Life insurance and annuity products to brokers and financial
advisors.
Jack Delsing was appointed manager of the retail life and annuity internal
sales operation. Previously, he oversaw the internal annuity sales team. Delsing
joined Securian in 2008 as a senior individual annuity internal wholesaler. He
has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. In his new
position Delsing oversees the internal wholesalers who market Minnesota Life
insurance and annuity products to brokers and financial advisors.
Scott Gauger is now an external life wholesaler and regional vice president
for the central territory of Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri
and Kansas. Gauger joined Securian in 1995 and has held positions as case design
consultant, life insurance product consultant, and internal wholesaler.
Sarah Dunphy is Securian’s new external life wholesaler and regional vice
president for Securian’s northeast territory. Most recently, Dunphy was a life
insurance and financial planning specialist in New Jersey and she also has
experience as a financial advisor. Dunphy has a bachelor’s degree from Montclair
State University and lives in East Rutherford, NJ.
Marshal Urbanz’ job responsibilities were expanded to include key account
management for the broker-dealer, Securian Financial Services, Inc.,
representing the individual life, individual annuity and retirement plan product
lines. Prior to his current role Urbanz was a variable investment marketing
manager.
