(Bloomberg) — MetLife Inc., the largest U.S. life insurer, had its outlook raised to positive from stable by Standard & Poor’s as the company’s ability to meet dividends and other obligations improved.
“The company’s operating performance has improved during the past few years, supported by its strategy of geographic diversification,” S&P said Friday in a statement as it affirmed an A- rating on the insurer’s senior debt. The ratings firm also cited MetLife’s expanding employee-benefits business and “de- risking” of U.S. operations.
