Mary Jo Hudson Resigns from Ohio Insurance Post

Ohio Insurance Director Mary Jo Hudson has announced plans to resign Jan. 10.Hudson was appointed director by Gov. Ted Strickland D, in January 2007.
A Republican, John Kasich, is set to succeed Strickland Jan. 11. At press time, Kasich had not named an insurance commissioner.
Hudson has been the chairman of the management committee at the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission (IIPRC), an entity that tries to simplify the product filing process for insurers operating in the states that participate in the compact.
Roger Sevigny of New Hampshire recently took over from Hudson as chairman of the IIPRC.
Hudson also has been visible in the efforts of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Kansas City, Mo., to develop Affordable Care Act implementation regulations and keep American International Group Inc., New York, from using the assets of insurance company subsidiaries to shore up other types of subsidiaries.
Hudson has a bachelor’s degree from Miami University and a law degree from the University of Cincinnati.
