  • Advisors Excel Event Raises $620,000 for the United Service Organizations

    February 19, 2016 by PRNewswire

TOPEKA, Kan., Feb. 19, 2016  /PRNewswire/ — $620,000 was raised to support the United Service Organizations (USO) during a fundraiser hosted recently by Advisors Excel, a national financial services marketing organization based in Topeka, Kansas. The funds will help further the mission of the USO to keep American service members connected to family, home and country throughout their service to the nation.

Each year, Advisors Excel hosts some of the nation’s top financial professionals for a two-day training event that includes an opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause. This year’s event, held in Scottsdale, Arizona, included more than 900 top insurance professionals and financial advisors and marked the third time the company has partnered with the USO for its annual fundraiser.

Advisors Excel and the USO first joined forces in 2013, when $225,000 was raised to support USO programs. That partnership was renewed in 2014 to support the construction of the USO Warrior and Family Center at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center inBethesda, Maryland. Advisors Excel and its agents and advisors were able to donate $300,000 to the construction of the center, which opened in April 2014.

“Every year I’m literally blown away by the generosity of the independent financial professionals we’re blessed to work with,” said Advisors Excel Co-Founder Cody Foster. “They continually raise the bar for giving back, and any time they’re asked to help support the members of the military they always come through in a big way. We’re grateful for the opportunity work with them and to help further the mission of the USO.”

For 75 years, the USO has been strengthening America’s military service members by providing programs, services and entertainment throughout every step of their journey. From the moment they join, through their assignment and deployments and as they transition back to their communities, the USO is always by their side.

“It was a privilege to meet many of the independent financial professionals and the amazing team at Advisors Excel during this fundraiser. I was humbled by their personal generosity, which will allow the USO to continue our support to the service members and military families who find comfort and connection at our USO locations,” said Alan Reyes, USO Senior Vice President of Operations. “This donation is a meaningful expression of gratitude to those who serve and protect the nation, no matter the circumstances.”

The $620,000 donated by Advisors Excel and its agents and advisors will help provide a number of items in the USO Wishbook, a symbolic listing of meaningful services and resources for service members, including phone cards and the technology needed to connect with friends and family back home, the opportunity to record a bedtime story on DVD to send home to their children, or tickets to local sporting events for wounded warriors recovering from their injuries.

In previous years, Advisors Excel, in partnership with its agents and advisors, has donated more than $1 million to a variety of worthy causes, including The V Foundation for Cancer Research, Sean Payton’s Play It Forward Foundation, The Special Operations Warrior Foundation and the Make-A-Wish Foundation®.
