No one can say Sun Yung Tsu isn’t a loyal employee. After a 62-plus year career as a life insurance sales agent at Manulife, Sun has been awarded a Guinness World Records title as “the longest career as a corporate salesperson.”
And the record could continue to climb. “I have enjoyed every moment of my first six decades with the company, and I am not planning for retirement yet,” Sun says in a news release. “In work and in life, it is important to always look forward and be passionate.”
Sun, 91, works in Manulife’s Hong Kong office. He was among only seven candidates chosen from some 400 applicants who joined Manulife’s Hong Kong office in 1954. Sun has achieved top 10 divisional leader sales rankings 15 times in his career, according to Manulife.
“Insurance is the shield that protects people from blows they cannot see coming,” Sun says. “The industry will change over time, but serving clients will always be at the forefront of our business. People’s need for protection and security will remain unchanged, and I hope to continue providing it to our clients, so many of whom have become my closest friends.”
