#GivingTuesday
November 28, 2017 by Jamie Johnson
The Giving Tuesday campaign is a reminder that we all have the ability to donate something, whether it be time, money, items to a cause, group, individual that you care about and make this holiday season extra special for someone else, particularly those deemed less fortunate than oneself.
We can also all agree, “it’s more blessed to give than to receive” and there are numerous health benefits for the giver. There’s growing research on linking giving and volunteering to health benefits such as great self-esteem, physical health, and a longer life.
It is important that giving should not be measured or defined by a dollar or time amount; we should not lose the joy, the purpose that giving brings and get carried away with the material aspect.
Wink’s CEO jumped at Facebook’s #GivingTuesday reminder to spread out holiday cheer as she knew there was no better time than the present. Every hour, on the hour, she honored the Wink RockStars with a donation to a cherished charity of each one of their choices. In addition, she gave all of the RockStars a bonus in the spirit of paying it forward.
Giving Tuesday is the start of a cycle of good, an upward spiral to practice giving consistently, as a habit repeated will have a greater effect on ourselves, and others.
So, I had an epiphany this morning.
It is #GivingTuesday. In honor of this day, I am going to #Donate to a different cause every hour of the work day!Posted by Sheryl J. Moore on Tuesday, November 28, 2017
