Benefits of a Gratitude List
November 21, 2017 by Wink's RockStars
The best way to reap the benefits of gratitude is to notice new things that you’re grateful for every day. Research by UC Davis psychologist Robert Emmons, author of Thanks!: How the New Science of Gratitude Can Make You Happier, shows that simply writing brief reflections on moments for which we’re thankful—can significantly increase well-being and life satisfaction.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we took some time as a team to make a gratitude list. There is much more to be thankful for, this list is only a glimpse of our joy.
- I am grateful for my family- both by birth, and by choice, as this community keeps me laughing, smiling, and from feeling alone.
- I am grateful that AJ Betts lived- although my son is in Heaven now, he made me a much better person because of the 17 years I had him with me.
- I am grateful for my business- there is something to be said for not having to “work” a single day in your life, and LOVING what you do!
- I am grateful for the passion that I have for life insurance and annuities, and the ability to use my powers for good.
- I am grateful for miracle babies; they have helped me learn to live, during a time when I felt that I couldn’t.
- I am thankful for my healthy, loving and hardworking family.
- I am thankful for opportunities. For the opportunity to be ME and to live out my dreams.
- I am thankful that Jesus died so that I can live!
- I am thankful for every challenge I’ve faced and for the resilience it took to get through them.
- I am thankful for those who advocate for change.
- I am thankful for my adorable pupper, Ryley James.
- I am thankful for being in good health.
- I am thankful for opportunities to learn.
- I am thankful for my zany family.
- I am thankful for my senses. I cannot imagine living in a world of silence. Not being able to see the ones I love or feel their hugs. The smell of fresh baked cookies and the taste of Thanksgiving casseroles…I couldn’t imagine it any other way.
- I am thankful for my Lord and Savior. He has blessed me, my family, and my life in so many ways- I cannot fathom a life without Him.
- I am thankful for my family. For helping me in my time of need and standing behind me through the choices I’ve made in my life and for always supporting me regardless of my decisions.
- I am thankful for insurance. Without it- I would be broke and out of a job.
- I’m thankful for grace. For God’s true grace. For our daily choice to give and to receive grace. Grace is the key to approximate happiness.
- I’m thankful for my family; I love the craziness of a gracious husband, energetic son, and caring Mema (grandma) under one household— it’s our perfectly imperfect life.
- I’m am thankful for running; it has taken me across the world, cultivated endless ideas, enabled me to see the beauty of nature, fostered incredible friendships, and led me to my husband.
- I’m thankful for our community; we can walk around the block, we can talk to neighbors, we can bike down to the grocery store and feel safe while doing so.
- I’m thankful for my great kids, trusty dog, great friends, and to work with such great people.
- I’m thankful for the game of rugby which has created so many positive life experiences.
We encourage you to make your own list. Gratitude lists help us to recognize that it’s our choice to be grateful, to be joyful, and to choose the gift of giving. Seize the moment and open your eyes to see more!
At Wink, we are most importantly grateful for YOU, our best relationships. Happy Thanksgiving!
