The Iowa Economic Development Authority board has delayed a vote on state economic development incentives for Sammons Financial Group, which plans to bring 200 new jobs to West Des Moines with a new corporate headquarters.
The board voted Friday to defer Sammons Financial Group’s application so the state agency can evaluate the project’s eligibility for approximately $3.8 million in sales tax rebates and tax credits. It did not schedule the next vote.
Sammons Financial Group plans to spend $60 million on a new 200,000-square-feet building near Jordan Creek Town Center. The company has pledged to add 200 new jobs to its existing base of 510 employees.
Sammons Financial Group’s various member companies sell life insurance, annuity, and retirement planning products. The company’s offices are currently spread across three rented spaces in West Des Moines.
