    About the position

    The Vice President & Actuary, Head of Annuity Pricing, is a highly visible senior leader on the Annuities Actuarial team, reporting to the Annuities Chief Actuary, with oversight for all product pricing activities, including: product design analysis and pricing of Prudential’s retail variable and fixed annuity products and optional benefits; pricing models and methodologies; and strategic new product pricing initiatives. This critical strategic role has frequent interaction with senior executives within the Annuities business and corporate functions and is a member of the Annuities Actuarial senior leadership team.
    Primary responsibilities of the role include:
    • Lead the end-to-end product pricing, including pricing model development, production and analysis in support of new product development and product enhancement initiatives
    • Lead monthly rate-setting production, analysis and recommendations
    • Lead development and recommendation of pricing assumptions, in partnership with Assumptions team and other key functions
    • Communicate pricing results to stakeholders and senior leaders in multiple formats/forums, providing crisp, strategic, business-oriented communication and insightful analytics
    • Operate in close partnership with the Annuities business, in particular the Product organization, in co-creating products, where product design and risk mitigation are key components of pricing
    • Influence the strategic direction of the Annuities business through product design and pricing. Establish strong relationships with multiple corporate and business partners to drive strategic initiatives
    • Implement and maintain effective processes, infrastructure, and controls, including adherence with professional standards of practice and internal policies
    • Represent Pricing and/or Annuities Actuarial in various councils and committees
    • Provide strategic Pricing leadership in business and cross-functional initiatives
    • Lead a team of approximately 25 actuaries from entry-level to vice president, located across multiple sites
    • Develop and drive talent strategy for Pricing team and foster a healthy team climate. Support broader Annuities / Actuarial talent and climate objectives.
    • Other responsibilities as appropriate

    Qualifications

    • FSA with at least 10 years of actuarial experience
    • Broad leadership experience, preferably including leading large teams and/or actuarial functions
    • Deep technical knowledge, including variable and fixed annuity products and pricing concepts and best practices
    • Strong business acumen and industry knowledge
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple complicated product development initiatives at the same time in a matrix operating environment
    • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse functional areas, including business, actuarial, finance, hedging, risk and other control functions
    • Excellent communication skills, including the communication of technical subject matter to non-technical audiences and senior management
    • Demonstrated strong leadership skills, including team leadership, collaboration, transparency / authenticity, and influence / driving rigorous and efficient decision-making in a matrix environment
    • Proven track record of being a strategic thinker, creative, innovative and execution-oriented
    • Strong talent mindset and skillset, including leading leaders, talent development, performance management, coaching, strategic staffing, organizational design, and change management
    • Highly motivated and ability to thrive in a results-oriented environment with high performance standards
